In laymen’s language, if the night light feature is enabled, the system will show you gentler and softer backlight for the Windows 10 screen.
This feature is very useful for those users who stare at a Windows 10 screen for too long. This feature help in decreasing the eye strain as well as lower the risk of disturbing your sleep, especially if you work the most at night time.
Windows 10 Night Light Feature

Windows 10 Night Light Missing? Read to know
One of my site regular reader sent me a question i.e.
“My Windows 10 installation is completely up to date, yet I’m not seeing Night Light | Blue Light feature. I’m on Windows 10 version 1607. Am I doing something wrong? If you help to figure out this thing, it will be really appricated. Thanks.”
Even there are lots of users who’re sending me same post, so I decided to write this post so that I can help all the users having the same question in mind at once.
Windows 10 Night Light feature was first unveiled in Windows 10 build 15002 with name “Blue Light” which was renamed to “Night Light” in Windows 10 build 15019.
The Night Light feature is a part of Windows 10 Creators Update version 1703 which is due for early April 2017. Also, both the Windows 10 build 15002 | 15019 are Insider Preview build for the upcoming Windows 10 OS Update.
The night light feature is not available for the public at the moment and will only able to have it once the Microsoft roll the Windows 10 Creators Update version 1703.
Now you might be wondering how other Windows 10 users trying Night Light feature? Actually, all the users who have access to this feature have enrolled for Windows 10 Insider Program. This is additional service offered by the company under which users can enjoy the upcoming version of Windows 10 before public release, especially for the developer and those who love to give their feedback so that Microsoft improve the feature before public release.
Now there are only two possibilities to have Windows 10 Night Light feature:
- Become part of Windows 10 Insider Program. (Not recommended, if you’re on limited data plan) Learn How to Join Windows Insider Program
- Wait for the upcoming Windows 10 Creator Update build 1703.
